Earlier today, Que T\u2019hi Jugues made a huge revelation stating that Barcelona had made a payment of around \u20ac1.4 million to former Vice President of the Referees Committee, Enriquez Negreira between 2016 and 2018.<\/p>\n
According to the information, Negreira received the payment through a company he owned DASNIL 95 SL in exchange for \u2018advisory\u2019 services. It also revealed that the Barcelona justice system was investigating the matter over a possible case of corruption.<\/p>\n
Bar\u00e7a are understood to have paid DASNIL 95 SL the amounts of \u20ac532,728.02 in 2016, \u20ac541,752 in 2017, and \u20ac318,200 in 2018.<\/p>\n
Soon after the reports came to light, Negreira came out and denied any favourable treatment to Bar\u00e7a, while clarifying that his company\u2019s services were sought for advisory services only, with regard to how players needed to behave around referees and similar matters.<\/p>\n
Barcelona issued an official statement on the matter as well, which read: \u201cFC Barcelona hired in the past the services of an external technical consultant, who supplied, in video format, technical reports referring to players in lower categories of the Spanish State for the Club\u2019s technical secretariat.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAdditionally, the relationship with the same external supplier was extended with technical reports related to professional refereeing in order to complement information required by the coaching staff of the first team and the subsidiary, a common practice in professional football clubs.\u201d<\/p>\n
Concluding the statement, Barcelona lamented over the fact that the controversy was stirred up at a time when the team are going through their best phase on the field while also vowing legal action against any damage to the club\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n
Former president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who was in charge at the time these payments were made, claimed that it had been happening since 2003.<\/p>\n
Now, president Joan Laporta has also spoken up on the matter, saying: \u201cCul\u00e9s, it\u2019s no coincidence that this information comes out now, when Bar\u00e7a is doing well. We reserve all the necessary actions to defend the honor of FC Barcelona.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBar\u00e7a has in the past contracted the services of an external consultant to obtain reports for lower division players and for refereeing advice, a service hired by other Spanish clubs too.<\/p>\n
